Snow foolin

Snow Foolin' is a 1949 Screen Songs Cartoon. 

Plot[]

In this singalong about the first day of winter, when all the animals go ice skating. It is December 21, and the animals in the forest must contend with a literal avalanche of snow. Winter is not all that bad, though. After donning their winter coats, they will be able to enjoy themselves skiing, skating on a frozen lake, and tossing snowballs. In just a few days, one and all will be singing "Jingle Bells."

  • Technicolor print reviewed had the 35mm original Paramount titles.
  • This series was of animated cartoons that took popular songs of the day and combined Famous Studios animated stars in an effort for audience singalongs.
  • The top-hatted, smoking penguin on skates is a caricature of Willie the Penguin, the advertising mascot for KOOL menthol cigarettes until the 1960s.

Edited opening and ending cue problems[]

The November 1989 “Cartoons R Fun” print of this cartoon has the Paramount logo removed to start with the NTA version of the Screen Songs title card, and the and the Paramount closing title card got plastered with a black (or blue) background variant of the fake “The End” captions originally lifted from a 1969 Fred Ladd’s “Color Systems, Inc.” redrawn colorized print of a cartoon from the series “Krazy Kat”.

The December 25, 1992 “Cartoons R Fun” print of this cartoon had the same removed logo as the Nov. 1989 version of this cartoon and the Paramount closing title card got plastered with the blue circle fade-out followed by the 1956 closing variant of the U.M.&M. logo on a red background.
